PENANG or GENTING?

I've received quite a number of mails in my Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/FashranTravelsTheGlobe) inbox lately. Excuse for my delay in replying all the travel queries. I'll try to reply to each one of you personally. I would love to pick this entry by Sulistyaning Edi from Surabaya, Indonesia. She shared with me her experienced travelling in Lake Toba before but I haven't found a slot myself to post that (but I will share that soon!) ;)

Genting or Penang? What say you readers? Its like torn between roses which I think I enjoyed both and it depends on what you wants for your holiday travel. I'm sharing my opinion replying to Sulistyaning query to the reader as I believe there are more experienced people would love to share their opinion about PENANG and GENTING. Hope to hear from you guys soon!

"Hi there. I'm doing great. Thank you for your last message which I still need to find some time to draft it back into my blog. Lol. I'm too lazy to blog nowadays as the office work is piling up. Sigh. Penang or Genting? Hurm.. both have pros n cons.

Basically Genting is a theme park with cool rides and low temperature weather. But its not as cold as British weather. Its 40 minutes from KL. You can even make it a day trip, but u can opt for staying at Genting itself. I haven't experienced myself staying in Genting, But I've stayed somewhere nearby called Bukit Tinggi (http://www.selesa.com.my/) but that was 20 years back which I'm not sure whats the condition n service now. ;)

For Penang, If you love food, beach and culture, you will love Penang! Just like Melaka. I enjoyed the food in Penang (very much!). There are few places n activities to do in penang if you're into outdoors n under the sun kind of person. Mostly, I've been there on work basis and stayed at Equatorial Hotel. But there are few recommendations that you can opt for, Noordin Mews (if you're into boutique hotel)  and Hard Rock Hotel. Price wise I am not so sure, you need to do some research on this. I bet there are many great accommodations as Penang is tourist attraction. ;)

  2. I enjoyed both! But at the end of the day, it's all depend on what you really want to see and discover in your journey. As for me, i might choose Penang since there's a lot of thing to see, learn. In fact, the food! I totally can't resist that! Hahaha.
    * Happy New Year!
    * Still waiting on your remaining India trip! What happen to it? :D

  4. i'd say penang to be honest, not only because im a penangite, but also due to the fact that penang is simply awesome.

    genting can be covered by a day trip from breakfast to dinner, unless you are a gambling addict. penang on the other hand takes a few days. also theres this growing art culture in penang recently and a few cosy coffee shops around town/heritage zone to be explored. the beaches arent up to par compared to 2decades back. but batu feringghi is still a nice place to chill and you can take a walk at the night markets.

    also, food in penang is top notch!... gain weight 101: Move to Penang!
